Surface Techniques

A more recent passion is one focused on the design on the surfaces of my pots. I aim to make forms that are both classic and funky. I want refined edges, and I am a junky for a good “sexy” handle. With those elements on my pots, I have gone forward from only using stamps and texture, to utilizing slips (liquid clay), and underglazes. I am having a lot of fun with some monoprinting techniques, as well as painted on slip with scratched through designs and sgraffito. This new work has been exciting and fun to explore. I will continue to test out design and color with stamps, slips, underglazes, raw clay and my standard palette of cone 10 glazes to make my pots unique and artful and functional at the same time.
